Protecting and Expanding Voting Rights

Dear Friends:

The ACLU of Northern California - Santa Clara Valley Chapter will be holding its annual board election event, which is open to the general public.

Date:      Wednesday, January 29th, 2020

Time:      6:30 pm - 8:30 pm PST

Location: Rose Garden Branch Library

Community Room

1580 Naglee Avenue, San Jose, CA 95126

Year 2020 is an election year. The upcoming Primary Election is the first time that the County of Santa Clara implements the Voter’s Choice Act, which will bring about a new voting experience. The ACLU is also advocating for ACA 6 to expand voting rights. Please join the Santa Clara Valley chapter of the ACLU of Northern California for a presentation by Christina E. Fletes on voting rights.

Christina E. Fletes is a Voting Rights Attorney at the ACLU of Northern California, where she protects and advances the voting rights of Californians. Her work ensures that all communities, regardless of their socio-economic status, have meaningful and fair access to engage in our democracy.

Light refreshments and snacks will be provided! This event is wheelchair accessible.

Please RSVP at https://go.peoplepower.org/event/action/21356 by Friday, January 24th, 2020.

Respectfully,

ACLU of Northern California - Santa Clara Valley Chapter

This event is also a chance to learn how to join your local ACLU Chapter to fight for issues that you care about! ACLU chapter members work on issues ranging from immigration, to criminal justice, to gender equity. Chapters are the ACLU's eyes and ears in our home communities, and we keep lawmakers on their toes by representing ACLU priorities and issues. During this event, we will also hold our annual election of Chapter Board members.
